Q. Where does the money go from my auction bid?
A. All funds raised through the auction bids will go directly to the OCRI School Breakfast Program to help provide nutritious morning meals to school children. 100% of the funds will be used for the nutrition component of the program.

The OCRI School Breakfast Program has been supporting nutrition programs in schools since 1990. The program currently provides a nutritious start to the day for 11,000 students in 146 schools in Ottawa. All four school boards (Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre Est, Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est Ontario, Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, and Ottawa Catholic School Board) participate in the program.

Children who arrive at school hungry do not perform well in the classroom. Numerous studies have shown that students who are fed are more alert, develop greater self-esteem, have better attendance and fewer discipline problems. Children who receive a healthy, nutritious head start to the day show a marked improvement in academic achievement.

OCRI owns all legal components of the auction and is the party responsible for defining, managing and running all aspects of this auction. IKEA’s responsibility in this is to act as a money collecting agent on behalf of OCRI.
